Models own order and earlier polish purchases

Finally! I ordered a few Models Own polishes in the beginning of July and now I got them. However, I am a little pissed about the fact that they messed up my order and send me wrong set of mini polishes. I was so looking forward to my glitter minis and now I need to send the Beetlejuice minis back and wait another 3-5 weeks to get the glitter ones. Oh well, in the meantime I get to try the other 3 regular sized polishes: "Aqua Violet", "Ibiza Mix" and "Toxic Apple"!

Then, a few weeks back, I learned more about different kind of nail polishes and of course I had to get some. There was a discussion about holographic nail polishes in Kynsikoristelut group in Facebook. So, I went to Tokmanni and bought 4 different shades of holo's from Flormar/Kone Helsinki (numbers 809,802,819 and 801) and two Miracle colors (numbers U23 and U05( together with MNY's (Maybelline) 657 and Mavala's "Violet Diamond". The day before I found Layla's Magneffect from Kärkkäinen and bought number 15 "Glamour Lilac".

I'll show you later what they look like on nails and what kind of desings I have used them with.

I also went to Seppälä a few days ago and bought a few polishes from there. I had heared from my friend who works in Seppälä that some of the polishes were 70% off on sale so of course I had to go and check. I was happily surprised that they also sell Models Own there, only about 15 different basic shades but since I did not own any MO before, of course I had to get one.

I seem to have a blue phase right now. I have bought so many blue polishes during the summer that it is almost weird :D

My first ever gradient!

Oh I was sooo excited, I joined this group in Facebook called Kynsikoristelut which is Finnish and means Nail art. I had never before know how to do a gradient and I had only seen them on acrylic or gel nails before. From Sonne's blog again, I found a good tutorial which helped me a lot. Here is a link to that tuto...(in Finnish only but there are pictures so they might be enough.) Blogger informes me that the page is not available, so I'll add it later, hopefully it will be available then.

So gradient. My nails are quite long so I thought that I would use 3 different colours. The result does not really show 3 different colours because the green underneath and the pastel blue are some how too close to each other in shades so the picture does not show it very well. Anyways, there are 3 different colours.

Here are the polishes and other equipment that I used. I had the Isadora's green "Marzipan" as the base colour, next is Isadora's "Ocean Drive" and at the tip is O.P.I's "Fly" from the Nicki Minaj mini collection. Base coat is O.P.I's and top coat is Essie quick dry top coat "Good to go".

In my opinion the make up sponge is not the best sponge for this. At least, as you can probably see from the photos, mine did not end up being really smooth. However, others prefer make up sponge, while others kitchen sponges or body sponges. I am going to test them all later.

Orange and yellow

So the manicure I will post to you about today, is continuing the pastels line a bit actually.

I had just ordered a bunch of nail art stuff from Cecarsshop.fi (a Finnish nail art online shop) and immediately fell in love with the fruit Fimos, especially the orange. I can't remember if I got some inspiration on these from Sonne's blog (sonnela.blogspot.com) but at least I saw her fruit fimo nails earlier and knew I wanted to try them on my own nails as well. So here they are.

I used Max Factor's pastel yellow called "Mellow Yellow" as the base colour, then I had IsaDora's orange "South Beach" at the tip of the nail and Sina Nail Art Professional Stripper silver polish line between the two. Then of course strasses and the orange fimo.

I am not sure why I didn't use the Fimos at least in one other finger but I liked them anyway. They didn't stay on for a long time because I have bought so many new polishes that I am changing the design at least 3 time a week.

But what do you think? :)

Pastels

In the beginning of the summer I had this huge desire for pastel coloured nail polishes so of course I went and bought bunch of them. By now I have bought about 5 different colours 3 from Isadora and 2 from Essie.

This design is from the beginning of the summer when I bought the Isadoras. The pastel blue is 712 "Ocean Drive", the gold stripe is Mavala's "Gold". I hadn't played with my nail stickers and strasses for a long time so I desided to add both to the manicure. Here you can see the result.

These first posts will be about my previous nails, I hope I am able to catch up with the current designs soon.

Happy summerdays everyone! :)

My first post ever.

So this blog is now dedicated to nail art, what I have done to my nails and where I got my inspiration from :)

I am pretty new with this blogging thing so please don't judge me too hard.

I have been into doing my nails for about 1,5 years now but only just today I finally decided that it is time to start my own blog (as if there weren't enough nail art blogs already out there!)

Here are my nails at the moment

I was planning to do a glitter sandwich but then I realised that the Essie "Bikini so teeny" was way too covering for that so I left them without the over coat of Essie. So now I only have 2 layers of Essie underneath one layer of Gina Tricot "Monaco Blue". My base coat is O.P.I.'s and top coat is fast drying Essie "Good to Go". Although, I should be getting a new base coat soon since O.P.I is not really working for me anymore and it is almost finished as well.

Not sure if I am going to continue to write in English or should I keep to my native language, Finnish. What do you think?
