Lemme show you my collection

Good day everyone!

I got 10 swatch discs from Mimax last week and decided that now is the time ot swatch all my polishes onto them. I decided to swatch them according to their colour which wasn't a really good idea as I think of it because now when I get new colours they can't be put on the right disc. Oh well, then I asked from another blogger how she does it and I think I'll copy her. She just swatches then when she gets them, so not in any particular order.

So as I was swatching the colours I noticed that even though OPI "Kyoto Pearl" and Malava "Silver" do look totally different colours in the bottles, they look dubes to each other on the disc. On the right is OPI and on the left is Mavala.

Here, in the daylight, you can see even better that there is no difference between the two. Upper one is OPI.

So, then I went to buy Depend for the stamping and here you can see the difference between the two silvers. Now I also get how so many people have recommendet Depend for stamping. Isn't it obvious?

But here is my whole collection a few days ago. Now I have gotten 10 polishes more. :D I'll show them to you later!

Last but not least, my China Glaze "Buy 2 get 1 for free" package came today! I love all of them, can't wait to get to test them!

New finds

I spent last month at home in Oulu and before I left of course I needed to go for the one last shopping spree for the summer there. The plan was not to buy too many polishes but then again, how much is too many? :D

Here they are, I don't think that's too many, do you?

In Myyrmäki, we don't have Gina Tricot in Myyrmanni so of course I had to take advantage of the sale of 3 polishes for 9,95 EUR. This time I bought "Alexis" "Luxurious" and matte top coat. I wanted the top coat because I wanted to find a nice matte polish from Seppälä's sale and I am glad I found one because it's now one of my favourite polishes. It's the Golden Rose "Matte velvet, 107". Someone was selling Models Own "Blooming Pink" in Facebook's Kynsikoristekirppis and when I saw it in sale for 1 EUR I had to have it, it's so pretty pink!

In Seppälä, Flormar polishes were also in sale 2 for 5 EUR but there wasn't much variety so I had to take these two, don't get me wrong, I love these as well but of course I had hoped for a bigger variety to choose from. The pink one is 443 and the shimmer reddish purple is U26. I wanted to find out if H&M really had nice polishes so we went there as well. I found this duo package and immediately fell in love with the glitter polish, it looks amazingly pretty in sun light, doens't it? It was named "Zoo" and the pink creme one was named "City".

The other day I finally decided that I want to learn how to use my konad equipment. I haven't been really succesful with them, don't know yet if it's because of my technique or the polish I am using. Once I have managed to put the whole picture on my nail but that's it. Here you can see that it is very pale. Therefore, I searched through Kynsikoristelut group and found out that Depend has really good polishes for stamping, so I went to Cubus and bought two, 39 and 223. Let the stamping begin!

Blue Simplicity

I have spent the last month collecting more and more polish bottles. I have gotten about 2/3 more than I had in the beginning of the summer. Also I have bought tons of new decorating things like different sized and shaped rhinestones, Fimos and pearl halfs. I feel like I have too many of them at the monent because I can't try all of them at once! :D

Anyways, new nails here. I did these to my friend. I had a light blue jelly polish from Golden Rose in the "to-be-tested" box and also one pink glitter polish also, so I desided that now would be a great time to test them since they wouldn't be staying long on her nails because she was doing a play and her nails couldn't be polished.

I am not a big fan of black but somehow I felt like these needed black rhinestones to give them a little edge and not leave them looking too baby blueish. :D

BTW, I also tested the matte velvet polish and it was lovely! I don't have pictures of it since I forgot to take them before the polish had worn out from the tips. I used Gina Tricot matte top coat on them and with it they managed to stay matte for about 5 days. In the best shape they were for the first 3 days and after that they started to lose the matte finish. Although they didn't stay matte that long, it was fine for me since I usually do my nails about every four days or so.

What do you think about the "baby blue" nails? And what kind of experiences do you have with matte/matte velvet polishes?

Dilemma

You guys, I have a problem! Went shopping today with my friend and of course I had to visit every store I could think of that sells nail polishes and as it happens the annual end of summer sale is going on. So I fould many pretty polishes including my very first matte velvet polish from Golden Rose and of course I needed matte top coat to go with that so I got one from Gina Tricot and again I took advantage of the deal of 3 polishes with 9.95 EUR.

So now the problem is that, I really really really bad want to try that matte polish but I also really really really like what I have on right now. I'll show you tomorrow what I have on right now since I haven't made a post about them yet.

So what do you think I should do?

Sentimentality and gradient

This time, as I already had tested how to do gradient, I wanted to know if a different technique would change the result and leave the polish to be more even. I found a video tutorial from Youtube in which three different techniques were introduced. I had tried the first one already, so I thought that maybe technique number 2 would be better with the make-up sponge.

The polishes that I used where, Models Own "Peaches & Cream" and Essie "Navigate Her". This Essie is from Spring 2012 collection. Also I added a few rhinestones to my thumbs and ring fingers, then I wanted to try my new nail stikers so the rest of the fingers I decorated with them.

Then the disaster hit. I applied the top coat as usual and let it try. Added another layer because of the rhinestones. Then I realised that the top coat started bubbling. Anyways, here is a picture of the design.

I think that somehow, the colors were too bland together. What do you think?

Models own order and earlier polish purchases

Finally! I ordered a few Models Own polishes in the beginning of July and now I got them. However, I am a little pissed about the fact that they messed up my order and send me wrong set of mini polishes. I was so looking forward to my glitter minis and now I need to send the Beetlejuice minis back and wait another 3-5 weeks to get the glitter ones. Oh well, in the meantime I get to try the other 3 regular sized polishes: "Aqua Violet", "Ibiza Mix" and "Toxic Apple"!

Then, a few weeks back, I learned more about different kind of nail polishes and of course I had to get some. There was a discussion about holographic nail polishes in Kynsikoristelut group in Facebook. So, I went to Tokmanni and bought 4 different shades of holo's from Flormar/Kone Helsinki (numbers 809,802,819 and 801) and two Miracle colors (numbers U23 and U05( together with MNY's (Maybelline) 657 and Mavala's "Violet Diamond". The day before I found Layla's Magneffect from Kärkkäinen and bought number 15 "Glamour Lilac".

I'll show you later what they look like on nails and what kind of desings I have used them with.

I also went to Seppälä a few days ago and bought a few polishes from there. I had heared from my friend who works in Seppälä that some of the polishes were 70% off on sale so of course I had to go and check. I was happily surprised that they also sell Models Own there, only about 15 different basic shades but since I did not own any MO before, of course I had to get one.

I seem to have a blue phase right now. I have bought so many blue polishes during the summer that it is almost weird :D

My first ever gradient!

Oh I was sooo excited, I joined this group in Facebook called Kynsikoristelut which is Finnish and means Nail art. I had never before know how to do a gradient and I had only seen them on acrylic or gel nails before. From Sonne's blog again, I found a good tutorial which helped me a lot. Here is a link to that tuto...(in Finnish only but there are pictures so they might be enough.) Blogger informes me that the page is not available, so I'll add it later, hopefully it will be available then.

So gradient. My nails are quite long so I thought that I would use 3 different colours. The result does not really show 3 different colours because the green underneath and the pastel blue are some how too close to each other in shades so the picture does not show it very well. Anyways, there are 3 different colours.

Here are the polishes and other equipment that I used. I had the Isadora's green "Marzipan" as the base colour, next is Isadora's "Ocean Drive" and at the tip is O.P.I's "Fly" from the Nicki Minaj mini collection. Base coat is O.P.I's and top coat is Essie quick dry top coat "Good to go".

In my opinion the make up sponge is not the best sponge for this. At least, as you can probably see from the photos, mine did not end up being really smooth. However, others prefer make up sponge, while others kitchen sponges or body sponges. I am going to test them all later.

Orange and yellow

So the manicure I will post to you about today, is continuing the pastels line a bit actually.

I had just ordered a bunch of nail art stuff from Cecarsshop.fi (a Finnish nail art online shop) and immediately fell in love with the fruit Fimos, especially the orange. I can't remember if I got some inspiration on these from Sonne's blog (sonnela.blogspot.com) but at least I saw her fruit fimo nails earlier and knew I wanted to try them on my own nails as well. So here they are.

I used Max Factor's pastel yellow called "Mellow Yellow" as the base colour, then I had IsaDora's orange "South Beach" at the tip of the nail and Sina Nail Art Professional Stripper silver polish line between the two. Then of course strasses and the orange fimo.

I am not sure why I didn't use the Fimos at least in one other finger but I liked them anyway. They didn't stay on for a long time because I have bought so many new polishes that I am changing the design at least 3 time a week.

But what do you think? :)

Pastels

In the beginning of the summer I had this huge desire for pastel coloured nail polishes so of course I went and bought bunch of them. By now I have bought about 5 different colours 3 from Isadora and 2 from Essie.

This design is from the beginning of the summer when I bought the Isadoras. The pastel blue is 712 "Ocean Drive", the gold stripe is Mavala's "Gold". I hadn't played with my nail stickers and strasses for a long time so I desided to add both to the manicure. Here you can see the result.

These first posts will be about my previous nails, I hope I am able to catch up with the current designs soon.

Happy summerdays everyone! :)

Tuesday 24 July 2012

My first post ever.

So this blog is now dedicated to nail art, what I have done to my nails and where I got my inspiration from :)

I am pretty new with this blogging thing so please don't judge me too hard.

I have been into doing my nails for about 1,5 years now but only just today I finally decided that it is time to start my own blog (as if there weren't enough nail art blogs already out there!)

Here are my nails at the moment

I was planning to do a glitter sandwich but then I realised that the Essie "Bikini so teeny" was way too covering for that so I left them without the over coat of Essie. So now I only have 2 layers of Essie underneath one layer of Gina Tricot "Monaco Blue". My base coat is O.P.I.'s and top coat is fast drying Essie "Good to Go". Although, I should be getting a new base coat soon since O.P.I is not really working for me anymore and it is almost finished as well.

Not sure if I am going to continue to write in English or should I keep to my native language, Finnish. What do you think?
